I started Captions Communications in 2000. Projects include feature articles, blog posts, newsletters, website content, or helping writers polish their work and seek out the right publisher. I have taught writing courses but now prefer working one-on-one for my writing, editing and proofreading services.
Having been a member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada since 1999, I have served as editor of the newsletter, as a regional director and I am the current past president of the association.
My freelance writing is published in local, national and international consumer and trade publications and in academic journals. I’ve been a regular contributor to Grapevine Magazine for the past few years. Check the website for the digital issues and happy reading. You’ll find my article on page 40 in the latest issue. If you check other issues, you’ll find that I write on a variety of arts and culture topics.
I am familiar with Canadian Press (CP) and Modern Language Association (MLA) styles and I have developed my own tone, which has been described by clients and editors as personable and professional. I’m able to match the tone and style of any publication or website and work diligently to meet the needs of my clients.
Meeting people from all walks of life I especially enjoy helping them to tell their stories in my words or theirs. With my 30-minute free consultation I am able to ensure that my client and I are the right fit for each other. Rates are determined once the scope of the project has been well laid out.
The challenge of working on new projects is one of the most appealing aspects of being a freelancer. Contact me to discuss working together.
